Burt Lavern Parker
VIOLA, Wis. (WKBT) — Burt Lavern Parker, 87, of Viola passed away on Tuesday December 2, 2020, at Vernon Memorial Hospital. He was born April 8, 1933, to Buford Pearl Parker and Beulah Ethel (Burt) Parker.
He grew up on the family farm near Yuba, WI, and graduated from West Lima High school. Burt served in the Air Force for 20 years and retired as a technical sergeant. He married Erna R. Huber in 1956, and they raised seven children, and later divorced.
After retiring from the Air Force, he began working at Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley in Richland Center, retiring in 1987. He then began his own excavation business, working out of Yuba. In 1992, Burt and Edith R. Hall were joined in marriage. They eventually retired to Viola. In his spare time, Burt enjoyed hunting and fishing, restoring tractors, tinkering with projects and camping.
Burt is survived by his loving wife Edith; children, Allen Parker, Charlene (Rich) Chatigny, Cindy (Dennis) Munroe, Rob (Celeste) Parker and Lori Parker Lankhorst; stepchildren Fredrick (Corie) Hall, James Hall and Catherine (Thomas Dascher) Hall. Burt also has 26 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, sisters; Lucille, Pat, and Mary (Stan), and brother Lester (Karen).and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and his faithful dog Molly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters Candace and Carmen, and his sisters, Eva, Jean, Joan and Linda.

Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at the Thorson Funeral Home in Viroqua. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Vernon Memorial Hospital Foundation.
