Buffalo County health department plans COVID-19 vaccine clinic for 100-Mile Garage Sale
NELSON, Wis. – The Buffalo County Health and Human Services Department will host a walk-up COVID-19 vaccine clinic in Nelson this weekend, during two days of the four-day 100-Mile Garage Sale.
The garage sale will take place Thursday through Sunday in 22 Wisconsin and Minnesota communities.
The clinic, during which the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be dispensed, is scheduled for noon to 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday next to Beth’s Twin Bluffs Café in Nelson.
The vaccine is free, but the department suggests that people bring their insurance cards. They also should wear masks and T-shirts.
The event will feature Mother’s Day activities, such as making a heartfelt card or planting a flower to give to to a loved one. Construction paper, flower pots, soil and flowers will be provided for free.
Anyone with questions or concerns regarding the COVID-19 vaccine or other public health matters can stop at the Buffalo County Health and Human Services booth on either day to speak with public health staff.

The 100-Mile Garage Sale will take place in towns and cities along the Great River Road in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Wisconsin towns to be featured include Prescott, Diamond Bluff, Hager City, Bay City, Maiden Rock, Stockholm, Pepin, Nelson, Alma, Buffalo City, Cochrane and Fountain City. Minnesota communities on the route will include Hastings, Red Wing, Frontenac, Lake City, Camp Lacupolis, Reads Landing, Wabasha, Kellogg, Minneska and Winona.
