Bridal store holds 5th annual Operation Wedding Gown for military brides-to-be

Charlotte's Bridal has given away more than 120 dresses

A local bridal store is once again helping military women complete their mission of finding the perfect wedding dress.

Operation Wedding Gown kicked off this morning at Charlotte’s Bridal in La Crosse.

This is the 5th year Charlotte’s Bridal has teamed up with ‘Brides Across America’ for the program.

Military brides can pick out the gown of their dreams and get it for free as a thank you for their or their fiance’s service.

“The whole family is who sacrifices for us. And because they do sacrifice, this is our way of saying thank you to them, because we totally appreciate everything they do for us,” says co-owner Kathy Walker.

One veteran at the store today is finally getting the dress she never had when she got married while serving 10 years ago and will wear it when she renews her vows with her husband.

“You know, it’s honestly…it takes my breath away. … It’s a wonderful feeling, knowing that this business and other businesses that do step up can actually help and make that person, that bride feel special,” says one of the lucky brides Jasmine Guajardo.

Charlotte’s Bridal has given away more than 120 dresses to military brides-to-be over the past 5 years.

Nationwide Brides Across America has donated more than 14,000 gowns to military brides and gifted 20 weddings.
