Brewers trade Zach Davies, Trent Grisham to Padres
Luis Urias, Eric Lauer heading to Milwaukee
The Brewers have traded Zach Davies and Trent Grisham to the Padres for infield prospect Luis Urias and lefty pitcher Eric Lauer, according to multiple outlets.
Urias came into 2019 as a top 20 prospect in the MLB who can play multiple positions in the infield. Urias hit over .300 in the Minor Leagues and posted a .221 average in 300 MLB at-bats for the Padres. Urias projects to play at either shortstop or third base, as Keston Hiura is entrenched at second.
Lauer is a 24-year-old southpaw and former first-round selection in 2016. Lauer pitched more than 250 Major League innings in the last two seasons with an ERA of 4.40.
Davies spent five seasons with the Brewers and posted a 3.91 ERA. He went 10-7 this past season with a 3.55 ERA.
Grisham is a former first-rounder and saw extended time with the Brewers this past season after Christian Yelich’s injury. He slashed .231/.328/.410 in 156 at-bats this past season.
