Brewers lose to Cards, Woodruff leaves with ankle injury

The Brewers lost 4-2 to the Cardinals Friday night, but the bigger concern was the loss of another starting pitcher to injury.

Brandon Woodruff had to leave Friday’s contest in the fifth inning with apparent discomfort. Bally Sports Wisconsin’s Sophia Minnaert reported soon after Woodruff left that the team was calling his ailment a right ankle injury.

The news comes just days after the team lost another starting pitcher Freddy Peralta to a significant shoulder strain that could keep him out until at least August.

The Brewers scored two runs in the ninth Friday via a Keston Hiura two-run home run.
