Brewers hitting coach Andy Haines talks new faces on 2020 roster
The 17th annual La Crosse Loggers Winter Barbecue featured Brewers hitting coach Andy Haines as keynote speaker.
Haines got his start coaching in the Northwoods League with the Waterloo Bucks back in the early 2000s. Before he gave his keynote address, News 8 Now Sports asked Haines about working with a bunch of new hitters in 2020, and who he’s especially excited to start working with.
“You look at Avisail Garcia and the year he had two years ago. This guy’s capable of having a monster year,” Haines said. “Justin Smoak at first base, from the left side what he can do in our park–I think he adds a lot to our lineup.”
Garcia signed for two years and $20 million earlier this offseason and will play several outfield spots for the Brewers.
Pitchers and catchers report to camp Feb. 12.
