Brewers clinch third NL Central title, topple Mets 8-4
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WKBT) – Let the champagne celebration begin in Milwaukee.
The Brewers claimed the National League Central division title by beating the New York Mets, 8-4, Sunday afternoon at American Family Field.
Shortstop Willy Adames smashed a two-run home run in the first inning to put the Brewers up 2-1 and they never looked back.
Left-hander Josh Hader sealed the deal with a comfortable four-run lead for the Brew Crew in the ninth.
Milwaukee swept its series against New York to claim its third NL division crown in franchise history.
The Brewers also won NL division titles in 2011 and 2018.
The win secures the Brewers as the number two seed in the National League ahead of the playoffs.
Milwaukee has six games left on its schedule before postseason play begins.
The Crew’s first playoff game will take place Friday, Oct. 8 at home against either the Atlanta Braves or Philadelphia Phillies.
