Body found in truck apparently was missing Arcadia-Glencoe fire chief
ARCADIA, Wis. (WKBT) — The body located Sunday in a truck driven by Arcadia-Glencoe Fire Chief Jeff Halvorsen apparently was that of Halvorson, who had been missing since Aug. 18.
A representative of the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office told News 8 Now Tuesday night that the office hasn’t received confirmation that the body was Halvorsen’s.
The Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office announced Saturday that it was looking for Halvorsen, who had been seen last on Aug. 18 driving his gray 2020 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup with a steel cargo rack on the box.
The sheriff’s office announced late Sunday that authorities in Sawyer County, Wis., had found the truck, with a body inside, in a remote wooded area near Hayward.
Foul play is not suspected, authorities have said.
In addition to being fire chief, he also worked in the family business, Halvorsen Lumber, which he joined in 1996, according to the obituary.
Halvorsen was president of the Trempealeau County Fire Chiefs Association and the Arcadia-Glencoe Fire Department. He also was a member of the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin State Firefighters Association.
