Blue Mounds man charged after woman thrown from back of pickup
Sheriff: Victim found unconscious in the road
TOWN OF SPRINGDALE, Wis. — The Dane County Sheriff’s Department said a 20-year old woman was found unconscious in the roadway early Sunday morning after she was thrown from the back of a pickup truck bed.
The incident happened near the corner of Witte Road and County Highway S in the town of Springdale just after midnight Sunday.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, the driver of the truck left the scene and witnesses, many ofwhom were attending a nearby birthday party, were uncooperative.
Deputies who spent the night canvassing the area eventually determined that Dekota Edge, 19, of Blue Mounds, was driving the pickup when the incident occurred. He faces charges of reckless driving causing bodily harm.
Taylor Disch, 21, of New Glarus, was also believed to be in the pickup at the time of the incident and faces charges of obstructing.
The victim was taken to the UW Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Deputies are interested in speaking with anyone who was at the party that was held nearby on Holfelder Road. Anyone who knows anything about the incident or the party is asked to call the Dane County tip line at 608-284-6900.
