Blair-Taylor Girls Basketball turns to young core for upcoming season
BLAIR, Wis. (WKBT)–Last year a young Blair-Taylor team exceeded expectations…taking a Bangor team that made it to state to overtime in Regional Finals.
Now that young core is ready for another season.
Sophomores Abby Thompson and Lindsay Steien are following up after two breakout seasons.
The two became stat leaders for the team as freshmen, and coach Waldera says their skills are only beginning to improve.
“They’re going to come out with a lot of force. They played a lot of ball over the summer, as much as they could. They’ve been busy they do work out a lot through the season so you’ll see they’re going to be solid and for the most part they’re the best athletes we have,” said Coach.
“I feel like we just read each other very well, we know where each other is going to be just makes things a lot easier. We just feed off each other,” said Sophomore Abby Thompson.
“I can drive and kick to her and she can shoot well, she can cut in and pass it to me, it just works,” said Steien.
The team loses an outside shooter in Marlee Nehring, but coach is confident that other players can step up and fill that role.
