Blair-Taylor football reloading on offense

Blair-Taylor made the most of the COVID-19 shortened season: an 8-0 perfect record.

Now they’re looking to repeat that success, but they’re missing a bulk of talent who helped make the undefeated year possible.

The Wildcats have graduated receivers Alec Reismann and Matthew Waldera, tight end Kyle Steien, and tailback Matt Brandenburg. That group totaled over 2,000 yards and 26 touchdowns last season.

That’s a lot of production to replace.

There are a few remaining pieces from that high powered offense, like quarterback Cain Fremstad and wideout Colton Lejcher, who’ll definitely have a bigger role. They’re expecting a few growing pains but expect to learn from them.

“Lead by example, working hard in the offseason, getting to practice early, last one out,” Fremstad said.

“Obviously, Cain and I are in the same grade, so he’s been my quarterback ever since we started playing football back in the YMCA flag football days,” said Lejcher, “so I’d say Cain and I have pretty good chemistry, and we know what each other are thinking when it comes to football.”

Blair-Taylor comes to Onalaska to play Luther this Friday night.
