Black River Falls vote to keep police force down to 3 absentee ballots

Approval won by 2 votes, 3 absentee ballots unaccounted

Black River Falls looks like it will keep its police department running around the clock for now.

On Tuesday residents decided to keep the department the way it is instead of dissolving the city’s police force and contracting out other agencies to enforce city law. The approval won by just two votes.

On Friday the city counted absentee ballots, however three ballots sent out were never sent back in to be counted. Those ballots could have possibly changed the outcome.

Residents can challenge the vote next Thursday.
