Black River Falls police seek sponsor for new Drug Awareness program

D.A.R.E. program no longer in community

The Black River Falls police chief is looking for a local business to sponsor a new Drug Awareness program.

Chief Patrick LaBarbera said there is no longer a D.A.R.E. program in the community, so they’re using the program through LAW Publications as an alternative.

“We need to get children educated on the harmful effects of drugs when they’re young before they face addiction issues,” Black River Falls Police Chief Patrick LaBarbera said.

Money raised will go towards literature that’s distributed to students in local schools. Chief LaBarbera said police routinely visit local schools and handing out information would help the department’s education effort against drug abuse.
