Tyler Job is eager to bring his award-winning skills to the WKBT News 8 Now team. He is a Milwaukee native, but La Crosse has treated him quite well in the more than 1.5 years that he’s been here. He graduated from UW-Whitewater in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast/print/web journalism with a minor in communication, and Magna Cum Laude honors.

Tyler took his passion to UW-Whitewater and immediately declared to be a BPW major. He became a sportswriter for the Royal Purple newspaper at the start of his sophomore year. He spent three years writing for the Royal Purple writing numerous game stories and features, including a campus award-winning piece. He eventually worked his way up to becoming Sports Editor his senior year.

Tyler wasn’t just all about the newspaper aspect, though. He started broadcasting for UW-Whitewater’s campus TV station, UWW-TV, during his junior year. He called several football and men’s and women’s basketball games, including a women’s NCAA tournament game and football playoff games all the way to the day he graduated. He, along with the rest of the football broadcast team, won a “Best of the Midwest” broadcast award for Whitewater’s 2018 second-round playoff matchup against St. Norbert at the Wisconsin Community Media conference in May 2019.

Before joining WKBT News 8, Tyler interned at Milwaukee’s WISN-12 station in the sports department in fall 2018. During his internship, he covered several Operation Football high school games of the week in the Milwaukee area. He covered several Milwaukee Bucks games, including a couple of interviews with MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Favorite song? “Happier” by Marshmello ft. Bastille. Literally any Marshmello song is fantastic.

Favorite movie? Titanic. I’ve always been fascinated with the ship wreck and love story angle.

Favorite way to spend a day off? I’m a roller coaster fanatic. I wish there was a Six Flags near La Crosse. I’ve been to Six Flags Great America near Chicago over 20 times.

What sports team are you a big fan of? I love the Bucks. Packers are a close second. But I’m everything Wisconsin sports.

What are you bad at and wish you could do better? I love watching sports, but I’m awful at playing them (ironic, isn’t it?)

Do you have a hobby or collect anything special to you? I’ve played a lot of Fortnite over the course of three years, probably too much! I have more than 800 wins.

Favorite food? Spaghetti.

Family (share info about married/single/dating & kids). I have an amazing and handsome boyfriend, Michael. Can’t say enough about how awesome he is. My parents and my older brother live in the Milwaukee area.
