Email Anne

Anne Paape is WKBT-TV’s Station Manager/News Director. For Anne, there’s no such thing as a boring day at work. As News Director, she does everything from hiring and training all the people on the News 8 team to ordering the paper the news scripts are printed on. She is also known in some circles as the “Pet Lady” after years of doing the station’s Pet of the Week reports featuring dogs and cats at the Coulee Region Humane Society. Anne has been with WKBT since 1990 after graduating from UW-La Crosse with a degree in Mass Communications.

Favorite band?
U2. I love their music and respect how they have chosen to use their fame. I could barely speak after hearing Bono sing Amazing Grace at U2’s 2009 concert at Soldier Field in Chicago.

Favorite movie?
The African Queen with Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn.

Do you have a personal motto or quote that inspires you?
No regrets. It reminds me to go all out every day no matter what the situation is.

Favorite way to spend a day off?
Working in my garden, which never seems like work to me. Thanks to the Master Gardener course I took a couple of years ago, I’ve now learned to do some planning before planting. My gardens will always be a work in progress though and that’s just the way I like it.

What are you bad at and wish you could do better?
I am really bad at remembering dates. Birthdays, anniversaries, historical events…the dates just don’t store in my brain.

Favorite food?
Lobster tails, melted butter and lots of fresh squeezed lemon. That’s my very occasional special treat meal.

Pizza. Sausage, pepperoni or everything on it?
Everything please! And I’ll eat your olives if you don’t like them.
