Amy joined News 8 in 2020, moving back to the city she considers home.
Amy was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, and grew up in Inver Grove Heights. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a degree in Communication Studies.
Amy’s career started right here in La Crosse as an intern and eventual weekend producer at WXOW. She left La Crosse to become the weekend anchor at KSAX in Alexandria, Minnesota. Amy returned to WXOW in 2002 and was promoted to Daybreak anchor in 2004.
Amy left the Coulee Region for love. She followed her husband to San Diego, California, where he was stationed with the United States Marine Corps. While in California, Amy accepted a reporter/anchor position at CW6. In 2017, the Marine Corps stationed Amy’s family back in Wisconsin where she took a reporter/anchor job with Milwaukee’s Fox6.
When Amy’s husband retired from the military, there was no questions where her family wanted to go next. La Crosse is home. Amy is thankful for the opportunity to work in her “hometown” and share the stories that matter to the people in this community.
Amy has won four Emmy awards as well as two Murrow and Sevareid awards. She has also been honored by the Associated Press of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association for her work as an anchor and reporter.
When she’s not working or catching up on sleep, Amy enjoys spending time with her husband Benny, their two sons Bryce and Aiden, and their dogs Rambo and Emmy.
