Bingo to benefit local female scholars
ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) — Bingo! That’s how one group is raising money so area women can further their education.
The Coulee Region Professional Women’s Group held its Bingo for Scholars event to fundraise for scholarships which will go to local women. The event was held at Onalaska American Legion Post 336 in Onalaska.
Funds raised at five food trucks and through a raffle are also going towards the cause. Prizes included Brewers tickers and Country Boom tickets.
One of the group’s members has seen the impact the scholarships have on recipients.
“It’s really rewarding to see that this hard work is being paid off to people that really maybe couldn’t afford to go to college if they weren’t able to get scholarships. So some of these women are doing amazing things in our communities and we want to give back to those women,” said Becki Teff, fundraising lead for CRPW.
All the money raised from tonight’s event will go towards next year’s scholarships.
