Bike safety encouraged by La Crosse Police
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — With it almost summer, a lot more bicyclists are out on area roads.
Police want both drivers and riders to be aware.
Riders are reminded to wear bright-colored clothing and always wear a helmet.
Police say there’s one thing in particular that tends to be the cause of a lot of accidents.
“A big thing that we see from a lot of accidents of a lot of accidents that occur is because bicycles are riding against traffic and that’s a big issue,” said La Crosse Police Officer Kurt Weaver.
Police say bicyclists should also remember to use hand signals when stopping and turning.
