Bike ride honors emergency medical service workers
Riders pass through La Crosse on six-day journey
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The National EMS Memorial Bike Ride rolled through La Crosse on Tuesday.
The group is making a six-day journey from St. Paul to Chicago to remember EMS personnel whose lives were lost in both 2020 and 2021.
Each of the 15 riders wears dog tags bearing the names of those lost.
They will be presented to family members at the end of the memorial ride.
Those taking the ride want to send a message to other EMS providers.
“You’re not alone, we’re a team, we do things together, we lean on each other. If one person is struggling, then the rest of us pick them up and carry on,” says Jimmy Ramsey, a board member of the NEMBR.
The ride is organized by a group of volunteers.
This group will finish their journey in Chicago on the 25th.
