Big Brothers Big Sisters names 2020 Match of the Year

Quinten And Troy Bfks 2018LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A program that is dedicated to helping at-risk youth is proving to be a perfect ‘match’ for our community.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Seven Rivers Region named Big Brother Troy and Little Brother Quinten as 2020’s Match of the Year.

The duo was recognized for their effort to stay connected despite the challenges the pandemic has thrown at them.

When they stopped being able to spend time one-on-one they found virtual and outdoor activities that could be done in a safe and socially-distant way.

Quentin said being able to have Troy in his life is really special.

“I don’t have a brother or sister, so I’m happy I get to experience it. I’m happy that I actually get to feel like I do have one,” he said.

Quinten’s mother enrolled him in program hoping he would find a positive male role model.

And he really did find one – Troy and Quinten have been matched for three years!

Troy is being recognized as one of the program’s most consistent mentors as well.

You can be a ‘Big’ too.

Mentors don’t need to be perfect – they just need to show up for their Little.

BBBS7 is always looking for more empowering Bigs like Troy in the La Crosse and Winona area.
