Bi-State Classic to bring hundreds of wrestlers to La Crosse Center

71 teams are set to take part.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Some of the best wrestlers from Wisconsin and Minnesota are set to face off at the La Crosse Center.

More than 70 teams are set to hit the mats starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday for the return of the Bi-State Classic.

Volunteers were busy setting up 10 mats Tuesday ahead of the competition.

It’s a tradition back to 1982 that draws hundreds of fans into the community

As grapplers hit the mats, the community will already have a big win.

“We think it rolls a million new into the economy. It’s good for the hotels, it’s good for the restaurants, it’s good for the gas stations. It’s big business,” said Bi-State Classic event manager Dave Rudrud.

Action continues Thursday with finals set for that evening.

Spectators are recommended to wear masks.
