Battle-tested Luther boys ready for playoff matchup with Aquinas

Luther boys basketball comes into Wednesday’s playoff game vs. Aquinas with a record of 14-11 and a tie for second place in the Coulee Conference.
The Knights say they’ve seen huge improvement in their man-to-man defense all season long, and they’ve used their length to crash the glass, thanks to 6-foot-7 Isaiah Loersch and 6-foot-6 Joey McNamara.
Just like Aquinas, Luther believes their tough regular season has them battle tested and ready to advance to the sectional finals.
“It’s been a lot of up and down,” McNamara said. “We started 1-7, then we got pretty hot in the middle, then we had another rough stretch, and now we’re heating back up. It’s been tumultuous for sure. We’ve had our high points and low points, but we’re just trying to stay level and keep it rolling.”
“We’re going to try and take really good care of the basketball,” head coach Brad Schaper said. “We’re going to try and bear down, play some solid defense, out-rebound them, and then knock some free throws down. If we can do those three things, we have a shot. It’s going to be a dogfight from beginning to the end.”
