Basketball tournament raises money for domestic violence survivors

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Local basketball players are helping support domestic violence survivors.

Hoops 4 Hope is a basketball tournament raising money for New Horizons Shelter and Outreach Center.

The money they raise goes toward providing better programs and services at the shelter.

Teams of four from area high schools and colleges took part in the annual event on Saturday.

Things can get pretty heated on the court, but points are only part of the fun.

“It’s a competitive tournament, so you’ve got guys who are pretty into, and they do want to win. But at the end of the day, we’re all here to raise money for the same cause,” said Colin Luz, Founder of Hoops 4 Hope.

This is the third year for Hoops for Hope.

Last year it raised over $2,100.
