Bangor outlasts Cashton to clinch share of Scenic Bluffs title

Mathieu Oesterle ran for 153 yards and two touchdowns to lead Bangor to a 17-13 win at Cashton Friday night, giving the Cardinals a share of the Scenic Bluffs title.

The win make sit eight consecutive titles for Bangor.

Oesterle got the bulk of the carries with the Cardinals already down junior running back Tanner Jones.

“We just played a hell of a game and we’re all excited, and it’s an unbelievable experience,” Oesterle said after the win.

“They came out, they gave us our best shot,” quarterback Ashton Michek said. “We knew it was going to be a tough one going into it. We fought our best game. We played all four quarters. And we took the W baby.”

Cashton came into the game undefeated in conference and looking to win its first outright title since 1998.

Both teams have already secured playoff spots.
