Baldwin calls for vote on Back Pay Fairness Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKBT) — Back pay for federal workers is the focus of a bill in the U.S. Senate.
Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin is calling for a Senate vote on the Back Pay Fairness Act.
The legislation would require federal workers to receive back pay with interest.
Senator Baldwin says hardships during the shutdown deserve extra attention.
“Some of them now face fees for being late and it is only fair that the federal government pay interest on the back pay,” said Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin.
The act, which is also co-sponsored by Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, was introduced last Thursday.
