Back-to-School Fair gets kids ready for class free of charge
Boys & Girls Club of Greater La Crosse holds second annual fair
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The Boys and Girls Club is helping kids get ready to go back to school.
The second annual Back-to-School Fair was held Wednesday at the club’s two locations in La Crosse.
Parents could bring their kids to the fair to take care of a number of back-to-school tasks all in one place. Everything from immunizations, vision screenings and sports physicals were offered, as well as free school supplies and haircuts.
Organizers say the event was a big hit last year and they expected turnout to double this year.
“We literally thought of everything that possibly a parent would need to go through when it comes to getting their kid ready when it comes to signing up for things,” said Jake Brown of the Boys & Girls Club. “We really try to think of every aspect that a parent could have and then we’ve done our best to provide everything we can for free.”
The first day of school for the La Crosse School District is next Thursday, September 1st.
