Baby foxes found in Middleton parking lot
1 of 2 dies
MADISON, Wis. — Two baby foxes found near a Middleton parking lot are feared to be orphaned.
The Dane County Humane Society said the foxes were discovered Sunday.
After the first one was found and admitted, another was found near the same location. The second one later died.
The foxes are being cared for by Wisconsin Wildcare, where one of the members specializes in raising fox kits.
The organization tried but failed to find the den and reunite the babies with their mother.
The poor condition of the second baby fox suggests the two are orphans, according to Wisconsin Wildcare. Kits of this size would rarely roam far from the den site unless they were hungry and searching for the mother.
The first kit is stable and doing well.
