Authorities find body of missing boater in Lake Pepin
LAKE CITY, Minn. (WKBT) — Authorities have found the body of a boater who fell into the Mississippi River near Lake City. Terry Lee Woeltge, 69, fell off a boat Thursday shortly before 5 p.m., according to the Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office.
A passenger on the boat saw the man go into the water. He did not resurface and was not wearing a personal flotation device.
A search effort was conducted Thursday until sunset and continued Friday.
A Facebook post from the Sheriff’s Office said that authorities were still looking for Woeltge on Saturday morning. Boaters were asked to avoid the area so that they could continue the search.
The Lake City Fire Department, Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office, Winona County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources assisted with the search.
