Attempted homicide suspect reaches plea deal

Cordero Short agrees to plead guilty

The Chicago man accused of attempting to kill a woman in La Crosse reaches a plea deal.

Cordero Short, 23, pleaded guilty to attempted first degree intentional homicide, as party to a crime on Friday. In exchange, the state agreed to not ask for more than 10 years in prison. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 60 years.

Police say Short shot a small caliber pistol at least twice on June 13, 2013 on the 800 block of 5th Avenue.

Short admitted he was trying to shoot a man, when the unintended victim walked in the line of fire. Sentencing is scheduled for November 24.
