Ashley Furniture awards more than $63K to local SkillsUSA chapters
ARCADIA, Wis. (WKBT) — A nonprofit that helps students succeed in the trades is getting some financial help.
Ashley Furniture in Arcadia awarded more than $63,000 in grants to local SkillsUSA chapters, including one in the Eleva-Strum School District.
Eleva-Strum is one of the school districts getting a grant.
One student says the money helps his school with more than just financial support.
“The funding coming from SkillsUSA will allow us to hone our craft whether it’s our machining or welding, which is more of our specialty at Eleva-Strum,” senior Wyatt Miland said.
Nine local school chapters, including Eleva-Strum, received grant money Friday.
Arcadia, Black River Falls, Chippewa Valley Technical College, Cochrane-Fountain City, GET, Holmen, Lincoln in Wisconsin Rapids and Whitehall school districts also received grants.
