Artspire seeks entries that draw inspiration from La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The La Crosse Arts Board is accepting entries for its annual Inspired by La Crosse Art Competition.
The Artspire contest, with an application deadline of May 15, is intended to showcase the area’s artists and enhance public places.
Presented by the Pump House Regional Arts Center, the competition is based on the philosophy that public art cultivates the public’s awareness of and appreciation for the arts.
Jury-selected pieces will be unveiled during Artspire on June 12. Winners will be displayed at La Crosse City Hall for one year. Each winner will receive a $200 award and a ribbon.
The jury fee of $25, which can be paid online, entitles participants to submit up to three pieces. (Artists participating in the Artspire Art Fair and Sale may submit up to one piece for free.)
Submitted work should be no larger than 36 inches tall and 48 inches wide, no smaller than 18 inches tall and 12 inches wide, and no heavier than 40 pounds. Pieces must be ready to hang and already framed, if necessary. The Arts Board will supply security hangers.
Pieces may be for sale. A label will be displayed next to those pieces, with artist information and price. Work sold will be available for pick up on June 1, 2022.
More information and online application are available on the Artspire website
