Army Reserve members from around U.S. competing at Fort McCoy
About 50 soldiers are competing
FORT MCCOY, Wis. (WKBT) – Some of America’s best soldiers are at Fort McCoy to show off their skills.
Members of the Army Reserve from across the U.S. are in our area for the 2020 U.S. Army Reserve Best Warrior Competition.
About 50 soldiers are competing for the title.
Some of the competitions include pistol and rifle shooting, obstacle courses and land navigation and decision-making exercises.
But it’s not just about physical skill that will determine who is the best.
“One of the big things that you’ll see is having that well-rounded soldier. Being able to not only do the physical stuff, but the mental stuff. It’s not enough to be able to take a hill. We also want to make sure that our soldiers are able to really communicate effectively what it means to be effective warrior,” said Best Warrior Competition public affairs officer 1st Sgt. Daniel Griego.
The competition runs through Thursday.
