Area students with special needs compete in floor hockey tourney
The tournament was put on by the Adaptive Sports League
Area students with special needs took part in some friendly competition Thursday.
The Adaptive Sports League put on a floor hockey tournament at Logan High School’s Field House.
Students from Central, Logan, Holmen and Onalaska High Schools competed in the tournament.
The team from Central was sporting the color pink for their classmate Erin Hennessey.
Erin is undergoing treatment for cancer.
The team wanted to show their support for her through this difficult time.
“Our athletes really stepped up and wanted to do something that supports her because she is a fellow classmate and we felt the same support from the Central community,” said Central coach Matt Meyers.
“I hope she makes it, and I hope she does really well and I’m wishing my luck to her. Fight it strong Erin!” said Central senior Shariel Gillespie.
This is the second year the league has put on the tournament.
