Area students celebrate Wisconsin’s inaugural Chili Day with Farm to School chili
HOLMEN, Wis. (WKBT) — With the colder temperatures, some local students spent the day making something to warm their bellies!
More than 30 schools in our area celebrated Wisconsin’s inaugural Chili Day, with Farm to School ingredients. The recipe includes locally grown vegetables and FFA raised pork.
“Some of the local directors here in the La Crosse area came up with this idea the other year and the state kind of got ahold of it and they wanted to make it state-wide. So that’s what we’re doing!” said Prairie View Elementary Nutritional Team Leader Maggie Hubbard.
The chili recipe used throughout the state today was developed by the Coulee Region Farm to School program last year. If you’d like to try it yourself, you can find the recipe on the La Crosse Farm to School website.
