Area soldiers took to the bluffs for the ‘Toughest Race in ROTC’

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Area soldiers are taking on a unique challenge.

The UW La Crosse Eagle Battalion Army ROTC  hosted its annual Northern Warfare Challenge.

Thirty teams of cadets from colleges around the Midwest took part.

The brigade-level competition includes a 17-mile march through Hixon Forest with course challenges.

One cadet says it’s worth the hard work.

“It’s a lot to put yourself through, both the event and training, but it’s pretty cool too. I was doing the training and I told people I was doing it and they said, wow, that’s insane but really cool for you,” said Madi Bonebright, MS1 ROTC.

Over 300 cadets fought for the title of “The Toughest Race in ROTC.”
