Area high school students compete in pre-season robotics scrimmage

Eleven high school teams are participating

LA CRESCENT, Minn. (WKBT) – The Seven Rivers Robotics Coalition is hosted its pre-season scrimmage on Sunday.

The event kicks off the robotics season and consists of 11 area high school teams.

There are also teams from Southern Minnesota participating.

They’re battling on a full-sized field, which for some students is an opportunity they can’t pass up.

“I love it so far,” Sparta robotics team member Lucy Schwarz said. “It’s the closest thing to a real-world experience that any high schooler could get.”

Schwarz says she became interested in robotics in middle school.

But there wasn’t a team when she got to high school, so she formed one last year.

Teams will be competing in more events over the next several weeks.
