Aquinas Tennis wins sectional title to clinch Team State trip
West Salem's Hehli duo qualifies for Individual State
Aquinas Boys Tennis racked up 54 points to win the program’s second consecutive WIAA Division 2 sectional title on Thursday in Eau Claire.
No. 1 singles Anderson Fortney, No. 2 singles Joe O’Flaherty, No. 3 singles Shane Willenbring, No. 4 singles Joey Endrizzi, No. 2 doubles Paulie Reuteman and Sam Dickinson, and No. 3 doubles Lars and Pat Gundersen all won their respective sectional brackets. No. 1 doubles Ethan Schamberger and Mitchell Fortney came in second to the undefeated sibling duo of Jack and Kyle Hehli from West Salem.
The West Salem Hehli duo and Aquinas’s Fortney, O’Flaherty, Schamberger/Fortney, and Reuteman/Dickinson all qualify for WIAA Individual State June 2-4.
The entire Aquinas team, thanks to winning the overall sectional title, will send the entire squad to Team State June 10-11.
