Applications for parklets are now being accepted in La Crosse
Committee hopes parklets improve downtown experience
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Parklets may soon be coming to downtown La Crosse.
Parklets are small extensions of the sidewalk that provides additional green space for people to sit, relax, and enjoy the city.
The Planning and Development Department will be accepting applications through February 27. A total of five parklets will be accepted by the committee.
“We’ll be looking at examples from other cities to compare what our local applicants come up with. We’re hoping for something high quality, things that are high quality, parklets that are high quality, and we hope that the businesses and organizations that apply will reflect that,” said La Crosse Associate Planner Lewis Kuhlman.
The committee is hoping this program makes the downtown area a more lively place and experience for pedestrians.
