Another Nice Day Tomorrow
Isolated to Scattered Showers and T-Storms this Weekend

Good evening. It was yet another really nice late July day across the region. We saw a mix of sun and clouds and temperatures in the 80s. Humidity levels were also very comfortable. We can thank a ridge of high pressure moving into northwestern Minnesota for the nice day. In fact, it will bring another nice day tomorrow.
As we head into tonight, look for those puffy cumulus clouds to quickly fall apart. The result will be a mostly clear sky, with occasional high clouds drifting by. We’ll see lows in the lower to middle 50s in the north to the middle 50s to near 60 in the south. The combination of nearly calm winds and cooler temperatures could produce areas of valley fog late.
Fortunately, that high pressure ridge to our north will still be in place tomorrow and produce a very nice end to the workweek. After some patchy morning fog, look for some mid morning sunshine. By afternoon, we are expecting another round of those fair weather cumulus clouds to blossom. As a result, we expect a partly cloudy afternoon. We’ll lose those clouds around sunset tomorrow evening, with the the rest of the night remaining clear. Look for lows similar to tonight. Once again, we could see some patchy fog late.
We’ll start the weekend with mostly sunny skies Saturday, but an approaching cool front will slide toward the region. A few showers and t-storms will accompany the front. As a result, we could see a stray shower or t-storm, especially in the afternoon and especially north. Look for highs in upper 70s to lower 80s.
Looking ahead… that cool front will slowly sag through the region Saturday night into Sunday. The result will be a continued chance of hit and miss showers and t-storms. The good news is severe weather is not expected at this time.
As we move into the new workweek, it is back to quiet weather for much of the week. We can expect sunny to partly cloudy days and mostly clear to partly cloudy nights.
Temperatures will be the main talking point. They will take a bit of a tumble following Sunday’s cool front. Look for highs only in the lower to middle 70s Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. They will warm into the upper 70s to lower 80s by next Thursday and Friday. Overnight lows will drop into the 50s, with a few spots seeing lows in the 40s.
After this weekend, it appears we may need to wait until next Thursday and Friday for our next chance of showers and t-storms. And right now, those rain chances look pretty slim.
Have a great night! -WKBT Cory Malles
