More record heat for some today. The high reached 98F at the La Crosse airport, breaking the old record set just 4 years ago. This also marks the 4th record high in La Crosse in less than a week… and the 8th day in a row reaching 90F or hotter.

A cool front will bring a chance of scattered showers and storms on Friday, mainly during the afternoon and evening hours. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like a widespread soaking (like our area REALLY needs)… but at least some areas could see some rain. Before the front arrives, it will be another hot and humid day with highs in the low-mid 90s. The record high on Friday is once again 96F (2017) and we could be right near that at the La Crosse airport. The precipitation deficit at the La Crosse airport is now over 5.00″ below average and moderate drought conditions have expanded in the region with the latest drought monitor report released today.

Looking Ahead… Friday’s cool front will break the humidity somewhat for the weekend and it won’t be quite as hot… but still well above average. Expect highs Saturday in the mid-upper 80s, then low 90s on Sunday.

8 Day Build 3

Next Monday through Wednesday is looking dry, with partly to mostly sunny skies. Humidity will remain fairly low and high temps will mainly be in the mid-upper 80s. Just a small chance of t-showers Thursday and perhaps lingering into Friday morning. Otherwise, temps will remain above average with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s.

Stay cool this evening and have a great night! -Bill Graul
