Anonymous tip leads to Tomah drug arrest near park

TOMAH, Wis. (WKBT) — Tomah police arrested a 23-year-old man on drug charges Wednesday night thanks to an anonymous tip.
Michael Nelson, of Tomah, was arrested for possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. An enhancer was added with the charges because they occurred within 1,000 feet of a playground or park.
At about 8:40 p.m., police received a report of suspicious activity in the parking lot at 1209 Butts Avenue, Tomah Police posted on their Facebook page. Officers located two suspect vehicles at Recreation Park (fairground) parked near the playground equipment.
Tomah police said when officers contacted the vehicle occupants, they saw drug paraphernalia in plain view. A further search of the vehicle produced numerous items of drug paraphernalia and a total of 18 grams of marijuana, some of which was packaged for sale. Police also seized $350.
Nelson was arrested and transported to the Monroe County Jail. The case was referred to the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.
