Annual report cards grade schools in Wisconsin
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — More than 83 percent of Wisconsin public and private schools received a passing grade from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
This is the third year mandated reports cards reviewed schools throughout the state.
Eight schools in the La Crosse School District are listed as exceeding expectations.
One school in the district, Hintgen Elementary, is listed as failing.
District administrators say the numbers don’t tell the whole story.
“The formula is weighted and it is an attempt to level the playing field with higher free and reduced populations, like Hintgen Elementary. However, it’s not always fair. So if you look at the achievement for Hintgen, it’s actually quite high,” said La Crosse Schools Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Michael Lichucki.
No school districts in the state failed to meet expectations.
A full list of report card results is available on the Department of Public Instruction website.
