Annual event raises funds for Building Careers Tools for Schools Program

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – An upcoming event is getting kids interested in trade careers.

The La Crosse Area Builders Association (LABA) is hosting its annual Cabin Fever fundraiser.

It supports the Building Careers Tools for Schools Program.

There will be raffles and auctions, food, and music.

Prizes include Country Boom tickets, a fireplace, and gift cards from local restaurants.

The free event takes place at the Holmen American Legion on February 1st and goes from 6 PM to 11 PM.

One organizer says this fundraiser makes a difference for area schools.

“The instructor I talked to at Central High School said ‘you know, you can get the cheaper tool, but then you have to buy another one a couple years down the line’. So if we can provide them with a newer, nicer tool, then they can use it longer,” said Tena Bailey, LABA executive director.

Since this program started 19 years ago, $75,000 worth of tools has been donated to area high schools.
