An Active Week Ahead
An upper air disturbance brought light rain to much of the area today. The combination of thick cloud cover and occasional showers kept temperatures well below average… only in the middle 50s to lower 60s!
We’ll see those showers exit the region this evening. After that, look for a cloudy and seasonably cool night. Lows will range from the upper 40s to middle 50s.
A warm front to our southwest will move toward the region tomorrow and tomorrow night. Moisture overrunning the front will produce another round of showers and a few t-storms to the region tomorrow and tomorrow night. A few stronger storms are possible, mainly over northeast Iowa and extreme southwestern Wisconsin Monday evening.
Looking Ahead… The warm front will lift north of the area Tuesday. As a result, it will feel warmer and more humid Tuesday through Thursday with highs in the low-mid 80s.
A cool front will then slide into the area and stall out Wednesday and Thursday. Energy working along the front will bring more showers and t-storms during this time period. There is a small threat for severe weather, but it is too early to get into specifics. We could also see quite a bit of rain during this period, especially if t-storms track over the same areas. Stay tuned.
The front gets pushed out of the area late Thursday night. As a result, Friday look breezy, cooler and less humid with highs in the lower 70s. Friday should be partly sunny, however, we’ll keep a slight chance of a lingering shower, mainly Friday morning.
Next weekend looks to start dry with partly cloudy skies and pleasant highs in the mid-upper 70s. Slight chance of showers and t-storms return Sunday. It will be a bit warmer with highs in the low 80s.
