American Legion Riders escort pieces of Vietnam War Veterans Memorial wall to La Crosse

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — La Crosse’s Vietnam War Veterans Memorial project is coming together.

The American Legion Riders escorted pieces of the memorial’s wall from La Crosse Memorials to Veterans Freedom Park in La Crosse Wednesday.

The wall includes the names of Wisconsin troops killed in action.

One Vietnam War vet says some of the names etched on the wall belong to his friends.

“These guys sacrificed their lives and the families that paid the price,” Stan Roellich said. “And it’s kind of a good thing for both the families and the veterans to have a memorial here.”

The memorial’s dedication is expected to take place next month.
