American Legion Post 52 in La Crosse hosts flag presentation for National Flag Day

People across the country Thursday celebrated the American Flag.

The day was National Flag Day, a chance for groups to preserve the history and pride of Old Glory. American Legion Post 52 in La Crosse observed the day with a flag presentation to show people how to properly fold the flag.

For many, it was also a day to re-establish our respect for the Stars and Stripes.

“By flying it, definitely. There’s days that they should be at half-mast. That can only be ordered by Congress or the Governor,” said Gale Buchholtz of American Legion Post 52.

The day commemorates the US flag’s official birthday, which was established in 1777 with the Flag Resolution.
