American Legion Post 52 bring back Buddy Tree for holiday season

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The American Legion Post 52 in La Crosse is getting into the holiday spirit with their Buddy Tree.

The Buddy Tree is a way for community members to help out area veterans.

People can pick a name of a veteran off of the Buddy Tree to get them a Christmas gift.

This is the second year of the Buddy Tree which gets its name from the military term “battle buddies”.

American Legion leaders say instead of physical gifts, they are asking for gift cards for anywhere in the region.

“So because of HIPPA we cannot put someone’s full name on there, so the person can just come in grab a card off of the tree and decide whatever dollar amount of gift card they want to donate,” said Post 52 Vice Commander, Josh Navrestad.

If you would like to donate or get a name off of the buddy tree it is located at the American Legion Post 52 building on 6th street in La Crosse.
