Altra donates $75,000 to proposed Trane All Abilities Park

A park hoping to make sure people of all abilities can have a good time is one step closer to becoming a reality after big donation.

The proposed Trane All Abilities Park got a $75,000 donation from Altra Federal Credit Union today.

Plans call for the park’s 2-plus acres to contain seven different areas that create a comfortable environment for people with autism or those in wheelchairs to enjoy themselves and have fun.

Today’s donation from Altra kicks off a fundraising campaign that has a six million dollar goal.

Committee members hope everyone can give a little, and have a big impact for area families.

Francis Formanek, president of the Trane All Abilities Park steering committee, says, “Not only foundations, grant writing, but we’re also looking for individuals. Those kinds of people that think this is important in their lives, that they can make somebody’s lives better by contributing and making this park a reality.”

About 1 and a half million dollars have been raised already, thanks to contributions from the county and city.

Committee members hope to put the project out for bids when they hit the three million dollar mark … and get shovels in the ground sometime this summer.
