Alternate side parking starting in La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — It is another sign of the upcoming winter, alternate side parking goes into effect Friday in La Crosse.
Alternate side parking is enforced from midnight to 5 a.m throughout the city of La Crosse from November 15th through March 15th.
Cars need to be parked on the side of the street that has odd number addresses on odd number days, like Friday, November 15th.
And drivers need to park on the side of the street with even number addresses on even number days.
Police say the change can help the city.
“It’s not intended to generate revenue, it’s intended to get compliance with alternate side parking so that we can keep the roadways clear of snow, suck up leaves anything like that, that is required for road maintenance,” said La Crosse Police Capt. Jason Melby.
There is no cost for the first citation within a calendar year.
Any additional violations are $15, if paid within 10 days.
The fine goes up with drivers owing $30 if the citation is paid between 10 and 45 days and the fine becomes $60 for citations unpaid after 45 days.
