Alpha Phi Red Dress Brunch helps guard women’s heart health

The 7th annual Alpha Phi Red Dress Brunch was held Sunday in the Cargill Room at the Waterfront in downtown La Crosse.

The event raises money for The Mayo Clinic Heart Research Center and the Alpha Phi Foundation. The foundation funds research and awareness for women’s heart disease, which is the leading cause of death for women in the United States. It also funds things like leadership programs, scholarships and financial aid for students in need.

Kylia Anderson, the local Alpha Phi president, said they were inspired by the Go Red for Women campaign.

“We decided to adopt it to make a stand and to stand out as women in red dresses protecting our hearts,” said Anderson.
